Imagine you walk into a luxury retail store.  No one greets you, no one asks if they can help you, and no one is making recommendations.  

Well….Welcome to luxury retailers’ websites!

Conversation Couture was founded for this very reason.  I was trying to purchase a piece of fine jewelry online, and had to flip to 3 different websites and I still wasn’t successful in engaging anyone on chat to help find what I was looking for or help with the sale.

Technology and Human Interaction

Why is Facebook, Instagram, Tick Tock, and YouTube the arguably most successful and fastest growing companies ever?  They facilitate human interaction using technology, in a social format.  Let me stress this again – Human Interaction!  Those social media companies created a new experience, for people to see each other, and communicate over a technology platform.  

In 2020, we learned people need human interaction and have turned to technology to make these connections.  At the same time, customers have become accustomed to the convenience of purchasing products and services online, and will continue to seek out those opportunities. Society can’t go back to whatever normal was before, including retailer’s ways of reaching customers and doing business. We have to keep moving forward in this new direction, and ride the wave it’s given us.

 

Luxury retailers need sales professionals who are masters of their craft to be selling in a virtual environment to maximize profits and to create an online luxury level experience. 

 

The challenge for luxury retailers is to use human interaction in complement with technology to drive online sales.  Although adding flashy technology, like AI, seems cutting edge, it just is not enough anymore.  In addition, it is not enough to offer a customer service representative in the chat box who is only there to assist with basic questions like returns and exchanges.  

Shopping online is usually an anonymous shopping experience. However, luxury sales specialists need to show their value to online customers.  This will result in driving your online sales.
